Objective

Lock down existing HTTP fetch behavior before moving transport code into FeedReader.

Scope

Add tests for redirects, compression, retries, ETags, decoded-body checksums, final URLs, accepted headers, and typed errors for status and transport failures. Cover unchanged checksum and conditional 304 outcomes.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Retry and redirect behavior is explicitly asserted.
  • Gzip and deflate checksum semantics are covered.
  • ETag and checksum outcomes are covered.
  • Final URLs, headers, and typed status errors are asserted.
  • No fetch behavior changes.

Out Of Scope

Transport extraction, Req migration, and standalone package changes.
