Record the current Feedex RSS normalization behavior before extracting the parser into the standalone FeedReader library.
Scope
Add characterization tests covering the existing RSS fixtures and asserting:
Feed title, description, feed URL, HTML URL, type, and categories
Feed extension metadata currently produced
Item ordering
Item UUID precedence and values
Item title and content fields
Published dates and language
Canonical URLs
Authors and alternate image metadata
Existing RSS title-only behavior
RSS content:encoded handling, including nested markup preservation
Empty RSS feeds
Malformed RSS input and current error behavior
Assertions should compare normalized values rather than Feedex persistence structs.
Acceptance Criteria
Existing RSS fixtures have explicit feed and item assertions for every currently exposed field.
Source ordering is asserted.
Empty and malformed RSS cases are covered.
Tests document any surprising or intentional current behavior.
No parser behavior is changed.
The Feedex test suite passes.
Out Of Scope
Standalone repository implementation
RSS parser refactoring
Behavior fixes
Atom or RDF characterization
Feedex adapter changes
Commits or implementation beyond the characterization tests
